Privacy notice

Last updated

Hostilo is not trading yet, so the only personal information we hold is what you choose to give us on this website. This notice says exactly what that is, what we do with it and what you can make us do about it.

Who we are

Hostilo is a trading name of Central Studio (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa under registration number 2021/916757/07 and registered for VAT under number 4800304463. Our registered address is 10 Haggie Road, Anderbolt, Boksburg, Gauteng, South Africa. That is the registered address of the responsible party for the personal information this site collects, and the address for any legal notice about this document.

We are setting up a dedicated Hostilo mailbox. Until it is live, the form on this site is the way to reach us, including to ask about anything on this page. We would rather send you to something that works than print an address that bounces.

What we collect

Only what you type into a form on this site:

  • Your email address. Required, because it is how we tell you we have opened.
  • Your name, company and phone number. Optional. Leave them blank and nothing changes.
  • What you are interested in. The domain, hosting plan or mailboxes you picked, and anything you wrote in the notes box.

We do not take payment details on this site, because there is nothing to pay for yet. We do not run advertising trackers, we do not use third-party analytics, and we do not buy or enrich your details from anywhere else.

Why we are allowed to hold it

You gave it to us so that we would contact you about a service you asked about. That is consent under section 11(1)(a) of the Protection of Personal Information Act, and you can withdraw it at any time. If you do, we delete your record.

What we use it for

Telling you when Hostilo opens, and answering what you asked us. That is the whole list. We will not add you to a newsletter, we will not send you unrelated offers, and we will not sell, rent or share your details with anyone for their own marketing.

Where it is kept

Our hosting platform is being built to run in South Africa, and that is where we intend customer websites and mailboxes to live once we open. The waitlist records behind this site today are held with our cloud database provider in Ireland, inside the European Economic Area, which has data-protection law the Information Regulator accepts as substantially similar to POPIA. We will update this notice if that changes.

Who else sees it

Only the people running Hostilo, and the cloud providers that host the site and the database on our instruction. We will hand information to someone else only where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Until you ask us to delete it, or until two years after we last heard from you, whichever comes first. If Hostilo does not open, we delete the whole list.

What you can ask us to do

Under POPIA you may ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete it, or stop using it;
  • stop contacting you, which you can also do by replying to any email.

Ask through the form on this site and we will deal with it. We do not charge for any of this.

How to reach us about your information

Send an access, correction or deletion request to Central Studio (Pty) Ltd at 10 Haggie Road, Anderbolt, Boksburg, Gauteng, South Africa, or through the form on this site. Both reach the person responsible for how we handle personal information. When a dedicated Hostilo email address is live we will add it here, and either route will keep working.

If you are not happy

Tell us first and we will try to fix it. You can also complain directly to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

Changes to this notice

We will update this page when what we do changes, and the date at the top will change with it. There is nothing retroactive about it: anything we collected under an earlier version stays governed by what we told you at the time.
